Intro to Mold Making with Mitchell Spain Ceramics - April 3rd at 6pm EST
During this workshop Mitchell Spain invites participants to explore an introduction to the techniques used to create plaster molds. Attendees will leave this workshop with the knowledge of how to create plaster molds used for slip casting or press molding, and get a brief intro to slip casting. Join Mitchell to develop an understanding of the benefits of using molds in your personal practice and how they can expand your creative works.
Attendees will learn:
● How to make a one-part and multiple part molds
● The benefits of molds, including their various uses and how they can expand an artist’s understanding of their own work
● What slip casting and press molding is and how you can use it in your own work.
Fascinated by the preservation of our past, Mitchell Spain is a ceramic artist using highly technical processes to craft porcelain vessels. He draws inspiration from the Iowa family farmland on which he was raised, where he now raises his children alongside his wife. He has exhibited nationally and internationally.
