Creating Whimsical Illustrations on Clay with Leigh Weinberg - July 6th at 12pm EST

$40.00

Workshop Description:

In this 1.5-2 hour class students will learn how to create their own whimsical underglaze illustrations from scratch. Leigh will be covering many of her own surface design techniques, such as:

-Different approaches to transferring designs to a clay surface (tracing, silkscreen printing, freehand drawing)

-Using traditional painting techniques with underglazes to build up complex and colorful paintings

-Unique uses of popular methods, like sgraffito and Mishima, to add bold lines and character to a design

-Using glaze for utility and decoration

Artist Bio:

Leigh Weinberg is a full time ceramic artist from Wimberley, Texas. She combines her love of traditional illustration with clay to create functional pieces of art. Always surrounded by animals and nature, she paints stories inspired by the chaotic whimsy of the creatures she encounters.

Leigh discovered her love of clay while working towards a bachelor’s in Fine Arts; in 2019 she graduated with a degree in ceramics from Southwestern University. In 2021 she opened Lawful Studios where she started making and selling her work full time.

Once you purchase the workshop, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and any other info that you need before joining! You’ll receive a recording of the 1.5-2 hour session, as well, for 6 months of access.
